Decoration-free natural Christmas trees under 6ft should be composted: Take to your local recycling site or, if you pay for garden waste collections, put them out on your usual garden waste collection day from 8 January. (As a very last resort you can send your tree for landfill burial. Place next to your refuse bin on your usual collection day between 8 - 19 January 2017).
Recycling centres are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Open all other days on their usual schedule. Vehicle permit conditions apply as usual over the festive season. All recycling sites accept only debit or credit card payments for disposal of soil, hardcore, tyres, gas bottles, vehicle parts and commercial waste, and to purchase Revive compost. Asbestos and plasterboard disposal is by online pre-payment. Crewkerne and Dulverton community recycling sites’ £2 entry fees are by cash.

Providing people in West Somerset’s communities with easier access to information and services.Hello, I would like to introduce myself as the new Village Agent for West Somerset. My name is Kristy Hirons and I am looking forward to being able to meet many of you within our community very soon.
The role of a Village Agent is to bridge the gap between isolated, excluded, vulnerable and lonely individuals and statutory and/or voluntary organisations which offer specific solutions to identified needs. All of the support that I offer is free and confidential.
· Do you live alone, have a problem and are not sure who to turn to?
· Do you need some help finding the right agency, service or people to help?
· Are you a carer that needs help and support?
· Does your community have a collective problem that needs a kick-start?
· You’re just finding life a bit hard going at the moment?
I am here to help.I am based in Minehead but will visit all areas of West Somerset. I will be available at the Talking Cafe at The Beach Hotel, Minehead every Monday morning between 10am and 1pm. There, you will able to book an appointment to see me or just pop in for a chat if you are passing. I work 5 days a week and will answer my mobile if I am able to. If I don’t answer, please do leave me a message and I will call you back as soon as I can.
You may see me walking around the villages or at local groups and coffee mornings. If you do, please come and say “Hello”, I’d love to have a chat and perhaps a biscuit or two! If you’d prefer, I am more than happy to visit you in your home.
So any query, large or small – get in touch.
