Timberscombe and its neighbours - a Historical Perspective
YOU are warmly invited to attend a lecture given by
Mary Siraut, County Editor of Somerset Victoria County History
Timberscombe and its neighbours
a Historical Perspective
at Timberscombe Village Hall on Saturday 3rd June at 2.30pm
This lecture, illustrated with slides, will be of great interest to those who would like to know more about the history of ancient Exmoor villages such as Timberscombe. Admission is £5 per ticket and includes tea, coffee and biscuits. Tickets should be purchased in advance from Timberscombe Post Office or by cheque made payable to the ‘St Petrock’s Vestry Improvement Fund’ and posted to Mrs M Moncrieff, Waterside, Great House Street, Timberscombe TA24 7TQ [01643 841 318]. Please enclose an sae or collect tickets on the day.
All proceeds will go into a Fund for a disabled toilet within a re-designed vestry in the church. The plans for this significant project will be on display in St Petrock’s Church over this Patronal Feast celebration weekend.
Do visit the church where there will be a display of cottage garden flowers based on the contributions given by those in the village and assisted by our wonderful flower arrangers at the church. There will also be a range of documents and items of historical interest on show. Pamphlets will be available describing areas of interest inside the church and in the churchyard, illustrated with photographs. There will also be a Cake Sale on Saturday morning.
Tea and coffee will be available in the church on Saturday 3rd from 10.00am except when it is closed for the duration of the Lecture which will be held in the Village Hall. On Sunday 4th, the church will be open between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Following this there will be a Songs of Praise Service followed by wine and cheese. All donations will go into the Fund for the new toilet facility which will benefit the local community. Thank you for your support.
