VILLAGE AGENT NEWS

The adult social care team are holding a Christmas drop-in at Beckett House in Williton on Tuesday 6th December where you can come along a meet an adult social care worker, a CAB worker and other agencies who can offer you help and advice if you are worried about a friend or family member.   This is a great way to gain immediate access to an adult social care worker and to find out what help is available for those in need, so why not pop along for a coffee, mince pie and a chat?

The Beach Hotel in Minehead is hosting a community meal on alternate Wednesday evenings between 5pm and 6pm.  The cost of the meal is £5 per person for 2 courses and special dietary needs can be catered for upon request.  To book a table just call The Beach Hotel on 01643 704765.

As the weather is starting to get colder many people worry about putting their heating on.  If you are concerned about the cost of your heating bills please do get in contact with me for help and advice about organisations that may be able to help reduce your energy bills.

Well another year seems to have whizzed by (I’m not sure where it went!), so all that remains for me to say is that I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.

Please contact me by telephone or e-mail, or a home visit can be arranged.  All advice is free and completely confidential.

VILLAGE AGENT NEWS

Are you sitting comfortably…?
A new campaign developed by Public Health Devon launched this week called ‘Are you sitting comfortably?’ – to highlight the risks of sedentary behaviour - plus simple things you can do to break it up and move more during your day.  We know that being active is great for our health but frequent movement during the day is just as important as regular physical activity.
Even if an individual is active, if they spend a long time being sedentary each day they are still at risk of harming their health – so it’s important to raise awareness of the need to reduce and interrupt sedentary behaviour alongside the benefits of being active.
To support the campaign, Public Health Devon have developed a video clip, infographic and ‘sitting calculator’.  As most people are probably unaware of how sedentary they are, these digital tools are designed to raise awareness, trigger realisation and offer ideas for small changes that can make a difference.
Take a look at https://new.devon.gov.uk/adultsocialcareandhealth/health-and-wellbeing/are-you-sitting-comfortably/sitting-calculator/

The Exmoor Carers Group will next be meeting on Monday 28th November (12 -2pm)  at the White Horse, Exford, please contact me if you are thinking of coming along.
Please contact me by telephone or e-mail, or a home visit can be arranged.  All advice is free and completely confidential.

Dear Parents, Relatives, Teachers and Friends,

Thank you so much to all of you who contributed in some way to the Sponsored Walk and Soup Lunch last Sunday.

People have donated time, food and expertise and I hope you will all agree it feels lovely to be part of such a supportive and friendly community.

It was a brilliant first event of the year so thank you all for your support!

The winner of the Sponsorship champion Trophy was

 Eve Forsyth

raising a very impressive £173!

I would like to say a huge WELL DONE to all the children who took part in this competition and to all the parents and carers for helping them.

Their outstanding effort has made such a difference and I think you will agree they had lots of fun too!

At the next FOTS (Friends of Timberscombe School) meeting we will be discussing the next exciting event - The Christmas Fair.

This will be held on Friday 9th December at 3pm in Timberscombe Village Hall.

We will be looking for help and support with this event but most importantly, please come along if you can!
