Parish Plan Steering Group

Summary of the final meeting of the Parish Plan Steering Group held at The Old Dairy on Thursday, 17th October, 2013 at 6 p.m.

Present:

Mr. H. Crawford (Chairman), Mrs. L. Webb (Communications Co-ordinator), Mrs. J. Booth (Secretary), Mrs. S. Crawford, Mrs. P. Prideaux, Mr. T. Webb, Mr. J. Goodall and Mr. J. Conquer.

1. Apologies:
There were no apologies.

2. Minutes of Previous Meeting:
The Minutes of the previous meeting were signed as a true record.

3. Matters Arising:
There were no matters arising.

4. Review:
Mrs. Webb gave the Steering Group an update on the Action Plan as follows:

Computer classes - the classes have not started at Timberscombe First School for a number of reasons - the main one being the School’s computers are not easily accessed. Mrs. Crawford agreed to approach Terry Cadman to see if he wished to run some training for the villagers who have requested it.

Cowbridge Sawmill - the ‘Friends of’ have been set up with great success.

Green Technology - the Open Morning held in Dec. 2011 was very successful.

Grants have been obtained and very effective solar panels fitted to the school.

Film Club – Mr. J. Conquer, Mr. D. Hammond and Mr. M. Booth are working to set this up.

Book Club – up and running.

Sewing Group – this may shortly be resumed with The Orchard Club at The Old Dairy.

Toddler Group – no real take-up but the CLOWNS bus is available.

Litter pick-up – successful one in April 2012. Mrs. Webb to speak to the school to initiate further pick-ups.

Improve community communication – the new notice board is well used. The circulation of The Dunkery Tidings and village e-mails has increased.

There is a calendar of village events displayed on the village notice board and in the village hall.

Welcome Pack – can be compiled by the new Parish Plan Steering Group.

Publication of Parish Council Minutes - the Clerk now publishes draft minutes as soon as possible after Meetings.

Timberscombe Speedwatch – the full amount to buy the village’s own speed camera has been donated. Six more people have volunteered to train.

Monitor speed on Timberscombe by-pass – temporary flashing 30 m.p.h. sign has been used and is due again in October 2013. Police are analysing results.

Prevent lorries getting stuck – the sign at Heathpoult Cross to be adjusted so it is more visible and two more signs arriving.

Future provision of parking – ongoing.

Reduce lighting on by-pass – ongoing.

Update/Repair playing field equipment – Mr. and Mrs. Webb making grant applications - ongoing.

Provide allotments – Parish Council communicated to people who made requests.

Preserve Post Office – ongoing.

Grocery Shop – ongoing.

Tree on Brewers Green – Parish Council given results of questionnaire.

Reduction of dog fouling – letter sent to all residents. Additional dog fouling posters displayed. No additional dog litter bins as no funds for emptying them.

Dealing with problem dogs – problem dog contact on village notice board.

Repair footpaths – steps by Methodist Church repaired. Lower step fitted on style at Bougham Farm. Council made small tarmac repair on Jubilee Terrace pavement.

Ensure suitable housing provision – ENP and Parish Council informed of parishioners’ wishes through questionnaire.

The Chairman asked Mrs. Webb if the Action Plan could be updated and published on the website and also made available in the village. He thanked the members of the Steering Group who have worked so hard and so constructively during the past two-and-a half years and said we have now completed what we set out to do.

The meeting closed at 7.50 p.m.
