Timberscombe.com has received the following e mail.

Dear Timberscombe

I'm not sure how well remembered he is locally, but the Reverend JP Martin, who died in 1966 and was a minister in your village (
Homestead, Willow Bank, Timberscombe, apparently) for 17 years, was also the author of a series of children's books - illustrated by Quentin Blake - that have now been somewhat forgotten. The 'Uncle' books are surreal, playful and wonderful.
I've been a fan of the books since I was a kid and was lucky enough to buy them second hand, so after years of working in publishing I've decided to take the bull by the horns and republish them myself, with the permission of the Martin family.
I know that a few years ago the Uncle fan-group paid for a new memorial bench to be installed - I hope it's still there! Also, this is still in your church, I believe...  http://www.uncle-tv.com/memorialtablet.html
Anyway, I thought it would be good to let you know that I was planning this, as I'm sure there must be some people still in the village who remember him. As I can't afford to print these books myself, I'm going to be 'crowdfunding' the publication using a website called kickstarter. Basically, people pledge whatever they like and choose their 'reward' (in this case, for example, £30 for a copy of the book, but there are more options). If the goal doesn't reach the target within 30 days, no-one gets charged. If it does, the money goes to the creator and they do their thing. Here's the link: http://kck.st/ZpWz1y
I'd love it if anyone who remembered JP wanted to get in touch, and of course I'd also love it if anyone wanted to pledge for the books. Here's the link - please do shout if you have any questions I can answer.

Best, Marcus
